September 22 - 23, 2011 / Niagara Falls, NY

This training will address the duties of the first responder in the investigation of a child's death. It will address investigative techniques to help determine whether the death was natural, accidental, suicidal, or homicidal. The training will also include key crime scene and forensic evidence techniques. It will educate both CPS and law enforcement on how to conduct an effective, yet sympathetic death investigation, regardless of whether the child death is suspected to be accidental or non-accidental. Law enforcement (detectives and road patrol), fire personnel (paid and voluntary), emergency medical services, child protective services, district attorneys, coroners and medical examiners should attend. Space is limited, so please register early.

September 26 - 30, 2011 / Denver, CO

This advanced course focuses on multidisciplinary team investigations and it is the only conference with a theme on investigating and prosecuting power and authority figures. Other sessions include protecting victims with disabilities and working complex medical cases, such as starvation or neglect, abusive head trauma and child torture. Given the advanced technical nature of the training, we ask that only professionals with at least five years of experience attend.
