Child Abuse and Children With Disabilities
This newly released (September 2007) website provides an overview of child abuse and children with disabilities with a focus on Interviewing Strategies along with access to various types of Resources and materials that are currently available in this area. It is viewed as an informational tool that is continuing to develop and is attempting to pull together what we know about some of these critical issues and “where to start” if you have limited information. Funded by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to the New York State Child Advocacy Resource and Consultation Center, a program of Safe Horizon, Inc., the website was developed and produced by Teachers College, Columbia University and its team of professionals over a period of years. Contains captioned video clips, publications, links and the beginning of statewide contacts. Its goal is the provision of information for working more effectively with child abuse cases that may involve children with special needs and their families. An online training component and expansion of statewide contacts will be forthcoming in late Spring, 2008.
