Full-time Social Worker - Forensic Interviewer
The Child Advocacy Center is a medically based child abuse assessment and intervention center. The Center brings together clinical expertise, New York City Administration for Children's Services, law enforcement, the District Attorney's office, the Mayor's Criminal Justice Task Force, educators, and other professionals to improve investigation, prosecution and management of child abuse cases
Job responsibilities:
Conduct forensic interviews of alleged child victims of abuse that are child friendly, neutral, and legally sound.
Conduct intakes and psychosocial assessments.
Work closely with law enfocement, child protective services, and the District Attorney in conducting forensic interviews as part of a multidisciplinary team response.
Prepare written reports and summaries of all forensic interviews conducted at the CAC and provide a summary to the referring agency.
Testify in court regarding the forensic interview process when required.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings with forensic medical staff, law enforcement, child protective services, and the District Attorney.
Participate in hospital child protection meetings.
Provide mental health treatment when appropriate.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Social Work
New York State Social Work License
Forensic interviewing experience and/or training
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of the forensic interviewing process including issues of language, memory, and suggestibility and current legal challenges in the field.
Knowledge and understanding of the investigation and prosecution of child abuse and neglect cases.
Knowledge and understanding of family violence, substance abuse, and the dynamics of child sexual abuse.
Fluency in Spanish.
Strong writing skills.
